KDHSA families:
All Kenner Discovery Health Sciences locations (Maine Campus, DEC-Jefferson Campus, Rivertown Campus, and Vintage Campus) will close Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 due to the closing of all other area schools and the possible impact of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Gordon on electricity and other services.
School will resume on Thursday, September 6th, 2018 at the usual times. Lower School Back-to-School night and all athletic events are also cancelled for Wednesday. Please encourage your child(ren) to spend a little academic time over the next day and a half.
KDHSA students this is a great time to catch up on missed work, get ahead in a chapter book, study previously learned information using our online textbook access, practice math facts, or review notes. Middle School and High School students, please utilize Google Classroom and Study Island for practice work/class assignments. 3rd grade-HS students can log in to Achieve 3000 to read an article of choice or one that has been assigned.
For our little Swamp Owls, spend some time on Lexia, practice math facts, play board games with your family, have an older sibling or adult read with you, write a story or journal about the unusual weather, draw and label some pictures of the weather.
Stay safe and dry! See you on Thursday!

We are in contact with local authorities and emergency management personnel. As always, our top priority is the safety of your child(ren). As the weather continues to develop and predictions change by the hour/day, a push message will be sent if needed with a detailed weather plan for Tuesday, September 4, 2018 and onward through the week if needed.

Teachers have been notified of this issue. When power to Maine has been restored, and internet connectivity resumes, students will be able to access as normal. Thank you for your patience!

We are dismissing all students in grades 1st-8th starting now and will continue until all students are picked up. Community Works Aftercare is cancelled.
Rivertown students enrolled in Community Works will not be bused to Maine campus and should be picked up at Rivertown campus. The bus students from Rivertown will be brought to Maine campus.
The buses will depart at normal time. The bus students will relocate to an air-conditioned building until regular dismissal.
Thank you for cooperation.

Oops!
Due to an error, some 5th/6th Grade Chromebooks were kept at school that should have gone home with students. This affected anyone who had a payment plan set up through Gulf Coast prior to August 15th. This issue will be corrected and the students will be able to take home the Chromebooks starting tomorrow, IF they have turned in their Chromebook Agreement AND have an approved case. I apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience through this process.
Christy Aymami
Director of Educational Technology

Due to the current weather conditions, the 5th/6th grade Flag Football tryouts have been postponed to Wednesday, August 22, 4:00-5:45 at Wentwood Playground (232 W. Loyola Drive)

Dear Parents,
If your family was approved for free/reduced meals for the 2017.2018 school year their status for free/reduced meals automatically rolled over from Meals Plus to MealTime.
However, that status will be expiring soon.
Please make sure that you have either completely filled out an online application for the 2018.2019 school year through the following link:
or that you have turned in a paper application for the 2018.2019 school year at the Maine campus in order for your benefits to continue.
