Our first Cross Country practice is tomorrow, Wednesday, August 19th at 2pm!
Even if you couldn't attend Monday's meeting, you can still join the team, if you can commit to daily practices. They will be from 2:00 - 3:45 pm, Monday - Friday.
Enter on the Vintage Drive side with a mask for temp check, and you will need to bring your own water.
We'll start practice at 2, so arrive early and be ready to start.
Come ready to work out and run!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We wish that you could have seen how delighted your children were to be back on campus. Unfortunately, our on campus learning was short lived, but we are planning for more intentional online learning than last spring. Our students did get to meet their teachers and begin to form a relationship with them. During our professional developments, our teachers and staff have learned so many innovative and interactive strategies to engage your students. Our morning sessions will look and feel like school as our teachers will be instructing their students from their classrooms.
This year, each student will receive his own personal computer to use for the school year. Students will have the opportunity to log on to their computer and see their teacher presenting lessons live. Students will also be able to see and interact with their peers during the lessons. Your child’s teacher will be sending an email with information about when to log on for their synchronous learning lessons. Synchronous learning lessons will happen at the same time every day starting Tuesday, August 18th. In the afternoons, students will watch science and social studies videos, complete projects and assignments, and participate in virtual co-curricular activities. A dedicated learning facilitator is the most advantageous way to implement instruction for young children.
Here are some things we can do to make online learning more successful:
Have a designated learning space for your student (a desk or table)
Free the learning space from distractions such as phones ringing, dogs barking, and siblings playing
Students will wear uniforms
Students will come with HEART and their supplies prepared at 8:30am for learning
Attendance will be taken and completed work submitted to OnCourse by 8:30pm
While our “new normal” is not what we desire, our intentional online synchronous learning is actually a way to “teach” our students rather than only providing work for them to complete. It is extremely important to check your email regularly for messages from your teacher and administration. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we pivot to Online Learning once again.

After speaking to a few parents, many wanted to know how the teachers felt about the Discovery Strong Start.
As you know, we have been in professional development all week learning new tips and tricks to navigate these socially and physically distant times.
Please check out the Flipgrid our faculty and staff have created to share what they are most excited about for the upcoming school year. Be sure to check back, as many will be continually adding to this Flipgrid feed. You will notice familiar faces, as well as new faces!

Last chance to order school supplies through School Tool Box to receive them before the first day of school; however, this is not the last chance to place an order. If you do place an order after tomorrow and do not receive the supply box prior to the first day of school, please do not worry.
Important Message:
On 7-6-2020, an important message from Dr. Glaser was sent via email AND posted on the website (see below for link). If you are one of the 800 families who have not yet filled out either the ON CAMPUS LEARNING opt in form or the ONLINE LEARNING opt in form (which is a different form than the interest survey sent a few weeks prior), please be sure to do this ASAP. This information is crucial to planning in the next two weeks.
