Dear Parents and Guardians:
All KDHSA students in 3rd and 4th grade will take the LEAP assessment starting tomorrow, April 28th through Tuesday, May 4th. Our students are well prepared and have worked very hard to produce their best work on this assessment.
There will be no Homework assignments for our 3rd and 4th grade students. Also, students in other grades may not have homework assignments during LEAP testing.
Here is what parents and guardians can do:
Have a peaceful and calm start to the day
Make sure your child is well rested
Send them with a KD sweatshirt, sweater or jacket
Send them with a full water bottle
Send them with a healthy snack
Get them to school on time
Leave them with a positive encouraging word
Thank you for your support and cooperation. We sincerely appreciate our parents being our partners in educating your children.
Lyn Kelly
Principal, K-4th

At this time, the power has been restored to the Loyola Campus. All students should follow their regular schedule for the rest of the day. Thank you for your patience through all these interesting situations.
HS Administration
The PTO is so excited to celebrate our teachers and staff. Teacher Appreciation Week nationally is May 3rd - 7th. In true 2020-2021 fashion we have had to PIVOT in our celebration. Due to LEAP testing dates we are celebrating our teachers and staff over a two week span. Starting with a grab and go breakfast at DJOD and Maine on May 3rd and following up at Vintage and Loyola on May 4th. Attached is a flyer with all the details of what PTO has planned.
We are asking for your help to make these two weeks an incredible time for the staff. Below you will find a sign up link of things that we need for each day. Please see your specific campus link to donate. Each campus will have a bin near the office to collect donations throughout the next two weeks.
We are also in need of a few volunteers to help prepare beforehand and also at each campus throughout the week. If you are available to help please see the sign up link below.
Please contact Melissa Lassalle at 504-390-1074 or [email protected] if you have any questions.

KDHSA Carpool Notice 4/13/2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Today we will be sending home new carpool signs. Our new carpool plan assigns each family a number. As you arrive in carpool, our staff will type in the number and your students' names will be automatically populated in our dismissal process. This should speed things up a little bit.
Please follow these procedures for the security and safety of your children:
Line up only after 2:45
Hang your new placard from your rear view mirror with a pants hanger
Parents without a placard sign will be directed to the front office to present an ID to be checked. After your ID has been checked, your student will be called for dismissal and pick up.
If you need to have your placard changed, corrected, or need additional copies please contact the front office at [email protected]
If you have extra pant hangers to donate, please bring them to the office or send them with your student. We appreciate your generosity.
Thank you for being our partners in educating your children,
Lyn
Parents and Guardians,
We are once again requesting that you do not line up for carpool before 7:40 in the morning or before 2:45 in the afternoon. Carpool starts after buses leave at 7:55am or at 3:15pm in the afternoon. Our neighbors and residents in the area are having a very difficult time getting to and from their homes. Also please do not block driveways as we wnat to be respectful of our neighbors.
