KDHSA Families: Please be courteous to neighbors and do not block our neighbors' driveways. Be sure to follow the correct route. Do not drive on Massachusetts coming from Walmart. That is an illegal right turn. Please go to Mississippi and turn right on 26th Street. Form 2 lines on the corner of Massachusetts and 26th Street. Lower School and Lower School with Siblings forms in the left lane and Middle School only forms on the right hand lane. Please leave space for neighborhood cars to travel down the center lane.

**Picture Ordering Information** The portrait ordering process has changed this year. Barberito Photographers will create a physical proof card with the student’s individual portrait and a unique access code. The proof card will be given to the specific student at school in approximately 2 to 3 weeks following the student's initial picture date. Once you receive the proof card, you may go online to barberitophotographers.com and view/order your child’s portrait.
All portrait orders will be mailed to home. Orders placed within the first two weeks of receiving your proof card will eligible for Free Shipping. There are additional specials online! Parents who prefer not to use the computer system for ordering are welcomed to call the Barberito Photographers Inc. office at 504-455-6818 and place orders over the phone. If the proof card gets misplaced, please call Barberito Photographers’ office and you will be provided the code over the phone.
If a student did not take a picture on Science/Book Day, then he/she will take an initial portrait on Wednesday, August 14th at one of three campuses: Jefferson, Maine, and Vintage. Kindergarten students who were not present on Science Day are encouraged to visit one of the three campuses this Wednesday to complete their initial portrait. More Information to come...
The deadline to apply for student fee financing through Gulf Coast Bank is TODAY, Monday, August 12th for 8 month payment plans with first payment on August 15th.
All plans approved AFTER Monday, August 12th will have 7 month payments with the first payment on September 15th.

Discovery Innovation and Design Thinking 6th-8th
This STEM-focused middle school elective offers an exciting opportunity for students to experience hands-on, collaborative, and empathetic learning through real-world Design Thinking Challenges. Design thinking has been used throughout the ages by inventors, innovators, philosophers and scholars to address problems and pave the way for creative solutions. This elective will help channel curiosity and harness creativity while attempting to lead real change in our lives and our communities. Technology software and skills will be embedded through all aspects of the design process.
Carnegie Unit: Yes (.5 credit) Possible for 8th only if taking both semesters

The high school and middle school cheerleaders are joining forces this year to host this year's cheer clinic!
When: Saturday, August 17th
Where: KDHSA Cafeteria (Maine Campus)
Time: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. (with a parent viewing at 2:00 p.m.!)
The cost is $35 per child. This includes a t-shirt, lunch, and drink.
Those that attend are invited to cheer at a high school football game with the cheerleaders! Game TBD.
The clinic is open to boys and girls ages 5-10. Instruction includes a dance, cheer, and lots of fun! **MUST be a KDHSA student.**

Registration for Community Works Before and After Care Programs will begin July 29th for online registration. This program is for Kindergarten through 7th grade at Rivertown and Maine only. A separate registration will follow for students on the Jeff Campus at a later date. Please see the Community Works flyer below. Community Works (CW) offers your student a chance to continue learning beyond the regular school hours. Participants in afterschool are expected to attend 5 days/week. During afterschool, students will have the opportunity to experience enrichment classes like visual arts, dance, theater, sports, chess, and much more! A very important focus will also be placed on improving your student’s Math and ELA skills.
Afterschool 3:20 – 6:00pm Mondays – Fridays Fee: $125.00/Month - Non-Free/Reduced lunch eligible $75.00/Month - Free/Reduced lunch eligible (Must submit evidence to CW.) If your family needs financial assistance please contact the CW office.
Daily Drop-in / Late Pick-Up Required Fee: $15.00 / Day - Due on Day of Service. CW asks all families that may be drop-in to fill out a registration form.

Please pay fees or set up payment arrangements, as well as filling out the online mealtime application, before book/science day to avoid waiting in line to pay or set up payment.
All new and returning parents must fill out an FRL application the old ones expire 9.19.19.
