On May 21, 2024, 177 seniors received diplomas from Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy during a graduation ceremony at the Pontchartrain Center. The Class of 2024 received numerous honors and awards. In the class, 66 students merited the honor graduate distinction, earning grade point averages above 3.5. Ninety-six percent of graduates earned admission to a 2-year or 4-year university nationwide. The class of 2024 received $4.1 million in scholarships and awards, not including TOPS. The senior class earned 40,800 college credit hours through AP and dual enrollment courses through Southeastern Louisiana University. Kenner Discovery offers a variety of workforce readiness opportunities to help students prepare for their futures. Many students earned industry-based credentials, which can help boost their resumes and increase their earning potential in various jobs. In total, the class of 2024 earned 268 career-based certifications. Three seniors are certified Emergency Medical Responders, 14 seniors are Certified Clinical Medical Assistants, 9 seniors are Certified Patient Care Technicians, 44 are Adobe Certified Specialists, and 10 earned ServSafe certifications. An impressive 89% of seniors earned a Platinum, Gold, or Silver ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate. The class of 2024 completed over 5,068 hours of community service to the local community. Forty-two percent of the class was involved in a sport offered at Kenner Discovery.
Valedictorian and Salutatorian
Valedictorian, Kaleb Hall
The valedictorian, Kaleb Hall received the Valedictory Award for achieving the highest cumulative grade point average in his program of study. Hall, son of Ashley Mann, will attend Yale University on full scholarship and study African American Studies on the pre-law track. Hall is a founding student at Kenner Discovery, joining the school in its inaugural year as a second-grade student. While at Kenner Discovery, Hall served as the senior class president. He was also involved in various student clubs and organizations, such as the National Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Freshman Mentors Academy. At Discovery, Hall was on the soccer and track & field team. At Discovery, he earned a certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant. In his senior year, Hall dedicated over 80 hours of community service to the local community.
Salutatorian, Marym Abdelaal
The salutatorian, Marym Abdelaal, received the Salutatory Award for achieving the second-highest cumulative grade point average in her program of study. Marym, the daughter of Reda and Rehan Abdelaal, is a recipient of the POSSE scholarship and will attend Texas A&M University on a full scholarship to study Engineering. While at Kenner Discovery, Marym was involved in the Freshmen Academy Mentors, Key Club, National Honor Society, and Student Council. She also earned certifications in Adobe Illustrator and Safety and Pollution Prevention at Discovery.
