Librarians

In the world of school and learning, there's a hero you might not have noticed—the school librarian. They're not just about shelves and quiet spaces. School librarians are like expert guides on your educational journey, offering way more than just books. They're like the secret sauce for students!

Think of school librarians as navigators in the sea of information. They help you use all sorts of tools, from digital databases to e-books. It's not just about finding facts; they teach you important skills like how to tell if information is trustworthy, how to use technology wisely, and how to do research like a pro. So, when you're feeling lost in the vast world of knowledge, your school librarian is there to help you find your way.

But that's not all—school librarians are also like superheroes of inclusivity. They pick out books that show the diverse experiences of different people. By doing this, they create a library that welcomes everyone. When you see yourself in the stories you read, it makes learning more exciting. School librarians are like the heart of your school, making sure every student feels connected and inspired. So, next time you're in the library, take a moment to appreciate the unsung hero who's helping you discover the joy of learning—the school librarian!

At Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy, we have a librarian at both locations. Ms. Holly Howat serves as the librarian for the PreK through 4th grade students at the Maine Campus and Holley Johnson is the librarian for the middle school and high school students.

At Dr. John Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy, Ms. Lauren Bodie serves our PreK through 8th grade students.

The next time you are at a Discovery Campus, be sure to check out our amazing library spaces and meet our wonderful librarians!
