The Kenner Discovery Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) awarded grants to ten teachers on Friday, January 27. The PTO grants were awarded based on the teacher’s plans to use the grant money for either professional development or classroom development. The individual award amounts ranged from $300 to $1,000 with a grand total of $11,000 awarded. The PTO established the grant program in the 2015-16 school year and expanded the program for this school year by increasing the number of recipients and total award amount. The PTO raises money for the grant program through various fundraising activities during the year. Through the grant program, the PTO was able funnel $11,000 back into the classroom!
