Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy Confers 175 Diplomas on the Class of 2023
\r\n175 seniors received diplomas from Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy during the May 23rd graduation ceremony held at the Pontchartrain Center.
\r\nThe Class of 2023 received numerous honors and awards. In the class, 42 students merited the distinction of honor graduate, earning grade point averages above 3.5. Ninety percent of graduates earned admission to a 2-year or 4-year university throughout the country. The class of 2023 received 3.1 million dollars in scholarships and awards, not inclusive of TOPS, and earned 447 hours of college credit through dual enrollment and AP courses with the University of New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana University. Also, 7 seniors are certified Emergency Medical Responders, 18 seniors are Certified Clinical Medical Assistants, 31 seniors are Adobe Certified Specialists, and 98 seniors earned a score of silver or above on the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate. The class of 2023 completed over 3,450 hours of community service to the local community. Ninety percent of the class was involved in a sport or club offered at Kenner Discovery.
\r\nValedictorian and Salutatorian
\r\nValedictorian - Janna Calincova
\r\n\r\nValedictorian Janna Calincova received the Valedictory Award for achieving the highest cumulative grade point average in her program of study. Calincova received acceptance to several universities throughout the country and was offered scholarships totaling $324,500, exclusive of TOPS. Calincova, daughter of Evghenil Zaharia and Nadea Calincova will attend Louisiana State University and pursue a degree in Biology: Pre-Med. While at Kenner Discovery, Calincova was on the State All-Academic swim team and tennis team. Calincova was also involved in Freshman Academy Mentors, Key Club, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, and Student Council.
\r\nSalutatorian - Maaha Cheema
\r\n\r\nSalutatorian Maaha Cheema received the Salutatory Award for achieving the second-highest cumulative grade point average in her program of study. Cheema received acceptance to several universities throughout the country and was offered scholarships totaling $560,000, exclusive of TOPS. Cheema, daughter of Sajid and Burha Cheema will attend Xavier University of Louisiana and pursue a degree in Biology. While at Kenner Discovery, Cheema was involved in Key Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and Student Council.
