We are excited to welcome our Swamp Owls to our campuses this summer!
\r\nDiscovery Schools will be offering your child(ren) a full summer of activities for their mind, body, and spirit. We are planning robust summer programs in June and July. The Discovery summer programs in June will focus on a morning of academics, and Community Works Summer Enrichment, an afternoon of fun, creativity, movement, and the arts. The academics will support those students that need support and provide enrichment for those students that are on or above grade level. The afternoon enrichments will provide fun, creativity, spirited competition, games, and more.
\r\nIn July, we are offering health, wellness, fitness, sports, theater, & STEM camps on the DJOD Campus. These camps will educate students beyond core academics to build important skills such as citizenship, sportsmanship, creative expression, collaboration, problem-solving, & teamwork.
\r\nWe have access to federal funds which have been made available due to the pandemic’s impact on student learning and learning loss. These funds are restricted in use and are above and beyond the typical per-student funding that we receive. The federal funds will allow us to supplement a portion of the costs of running extensive academic intervention, enrichment, health/wellness, and social-emotional learning programs. The funds will also help us provide Middle School and High School summer school credit recovery at reduced costs as compared to previous years. This is likely the last summer we can offer such extensive summer programs for a small cost to families. Please review the following choices carefully and register your child as soon as possible. We are trying to determine enrollment so we can finalize staffing. Students will be offered breakfast, lunch, and snacks during the program.
\r\nPayment Directions for all Summer Programs
\r\nDebit/credit card payments can be made by phone 504-229-2143 (Tiffany Chatelain)
Checks or money orders can be made payable to KDHSA or DJOD and in the memo line write the program name and the student’s first and last name
