Dr. John Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy (DJOD) replicates the demonstrated success of Kenner Discovery, founded in 2013. DJOD opened in August 2020 at a temporary location. In August 2021, the school moved into a new, world-class campus on the John Martyn site in Shrewsbury near Jefferson Highway and Causeway Boulevard. The school serves 742 students in Pre-K through 8th grade. The building meets the goals and mission of DJOD. The campus includes multiple science labs, a STEM lab, a library, a computer lab, a teaching kitchen, a culinary garden, a gymnasium, a cafeteria, and specialized classrooms to provide wraparound services to the total student population. In addition to beautiful interiors, the school also boasts a complementary outdoor learning environment and play space.

At DJOD, our vision and goal are to provide students with a high-quality education that not only equips them with knowledge but also empowers them to make healthy and sustainable choices for themselves and their environment. We believe that hands-on learning is the key to building a strong foundation of knowledge and ensuring success in high school, college, and career.
